Good Friday

This morning we had Good Friday services at Bethel at 9am. Very strange to have a service in the morning instead of an evening service like in America but it was a good service. Pastor had an excellent sermon. There were also long readings from Scripture which I thought was very fitting. It was a gorgeous morning although quite windy so we were kind of chilly in church.

After church we relaxed, ate lunch, and read our books for a while and then I decided to head out and find some kids. Sure enough they were all out there so we played with them the whole afternoon. It was so fun playing catch and kickball and just goofing around with the little kids. Erika had a big kid game of kickball going and I hung out with the little kids like Steward, Brian, Corn, Innocent, and Aubrey. It was such a gorgeous afternoon; the sun was shining but it wasn’t too hot and all the kids were outside enjoying the day. Some of the men were doing some work around campus, and many of the ladies were gathered on Regina’s front porch chatting, watching the kids play and shelling peas. Just perfect.

Around 4, Dave headed over with the volleyball stuff to get a game going. It was nice because we let some of the older kids play this time. Usually when we do volleyball on Tuesdays it’s a “no kids” rule. Some of the ladies joined us as well, so we got a good few games in before supper.

Erika and I cooked our supper tonight since it was a holiday and we gave Anne the night off from cooking for us (although she still had to cook for some other people unfortunately). We made a stir fry with cabbage, onions and tomatoes, fried eggs and then since Anne was in the kitchen anyway she decided to be super kind to us and made us some chips (French fries).

After volleyball this evening, Dave and Dee invited us to go along on a little trip with them tomorrow. They’re taking a day trip to Kafue National Park to do some game viewing. We’re leaving at 5am so we can spend the good portion of the day doing our own game drive through the park. Since we had absolutely nothing planned for tomorrow, this was such a nice treat! We are very excited! J
